Russian folk tales
Baba Yaga fell asleep, and just at midnight Ivan the Tsar's son took the beautiful stallion, saddled him, rode him and ran to the fiery river. He reached the river, waved his handkerchief three times to the right, and suddenly, from nowhere, a high, magnificent bridge rose over the river. The collection “Russian Folk Tales”, collected and edited by the great Russian folklorist, historian and literary critic, researcher of Slavic spiritual culture Alexander N. Afanasiev, was first published in eight volumes in 1855–1863. It includes tales of different themes, forms and lengths - magical, everyday, about animals, etc., which are characterized by a wealth of plots, figurative and juicy language and characteristic and memorable characters - Vasilisa the Wise, Kaschei Bezsmertni, Baba Yaga, Bulat Yunaka, Ivan Glupaka and others. In this issue we offer you 72 of the most liked and loved Russian fairy tales.
