Bulgarian Encyclopedia of WINE - FIFTH edition
"WINE - Bulgarian Encyclopedia" in a new, expanded edition! The first encyclopedia of wine in our country. The guide examines in detail the production of wine from antiquity to the present day and presents wine as a cultural phenomenon. It especially emphasizes wine production in Bulgaria by presenting the wine regions and wineries with their best wines. Additionally, information for connoisseurs is included - about the aroma, language, aftertaste and color of the wine, as well as a ranking of the best wines in Bulgaria and around the world. The first edition of this book appeared in 2004 with the ambition to fill a long-standing need on the book market - the need for a guide that would introduce the wine-loving Bulgarian reader to the world of wine with its long, complex and rich in cultural layers history, its technologies, styles, tastes and rituals. Since then, many things have changed in the wine industry in our country. New wineries and hundreds (rather thousands) of new wines have appeared. Established producers in the past have gone bankrupt. The new wineries have planted their own vineyards and strictly control the quality of the grapes, and therefore of the wine. Yasen Borislavov Our esteemed colleague Yasen Borislavov left us before long and left behind a tangible gap in Bulgarian journalism and in particular in wine journalism. Each of the four previous editions of his “Bulgarian Encyclopedia of Wine” has been exhausted to the end, because the book is not only a serious and comprehensive work, but also a fascinating and informative read for all those intrigued by the topic of “Wine”. “Its modest desire is to be the Bulgarian piece in the picture of the huge and dynamically changing world wine puzzle” – writes the author, who Vesela Marinova |
