THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO - 2-volume set
“The Count of Monte Cristo” is one of the most famous adventure novels in the world - NOW OUT IN A NEW TRANSLATION in a set of two volumes! The action takes place in France, Italy and the islands of the Mediterranean, during the second reign of Napoleon. At its core are the eternal human values: justice, compassion and the ability to forgive, which enter into a fierce struggle with the desire for revenge. Interestingly, the novel is based on a real case. Dumas recreates the fate of a shoemaker from Paris who was engaged to a rich woman, but his friends accused him of being a spy for England. He was imprisoned for seven years. During his stay in prison, his dying friend described to him where a treasure was hidden. When he was released, the shoemaker found the treasure, returned to Paris under a different name and spent ten years avenging his former friends. Thus, Edmond Dantes was betrayed, sent into exile, and later, having become a rich and respected man, took revenge on his enemies. For the first time, the novel was published in the Journal des Débats in eighteen parts - from August 1844 to January 1846. Later, Dumas himself wrote three plays that recreate the story of The Count of Monte Cristo. In the 20th century, a large number of films were made based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas. The publishing house offers its readers this truly exciting and fascinating story, in which every person will find something for themselves, will remember what are the truly valuable things in life and will come face to face with a long-gone era.
