Even every child knows that the nature of Bulgaria heals. But what is hidden behind this generally accepted statement? The key to effective prevention and prophylaxis lies in the rational application of the natural healing factors of Bulgaria. Which of our resorts are favorable for a particular disease or for a spa stay, what are the benefits of sea and mountain resorts, where is the best mineral water for treating a given disease, what procedures are offered in various balneological resorts, what are phytoncides, where is the most healing mud in Europe, etc. The answers are on the pages of the full-color and luxurious book. The complex climate and balneological treatment in ecologically clean resorts stimulates the healing processes in the body. Excellent examples of this are the resorts on our Black Sea coast such as St. St. Constantine and Elena, Albena, Golden Sands, Pomorie, where for years they have successfully combined sea treatment, balneological treatment and mud treatment. Inland, prominent examples are Sandanski and Velingrad with climate and balneotherapy, Banya, Karlovsko, with climate, mud and balneotherapy, etc. Mountain resorts recognized as such are Pamporovo, Borovets, Govedartsi, Yundola, Apriltsi, Berkovitsa, Vidima, Elena, Etropole, Oreshak, Koprivshtitsa, Klisura, Lyulyatsite, Predela, Rakitovo, Samokov, Semkovo, Smolyan, Teteven – Ribaritsa, Troyan and Chepelare. Climatic sea resorts are Aheloy, Ahtopol, Balchik, Burgas – resort areas, Byala, Varna – resort areas, Kavarna, Kamchia – estuary, Kiten, Kranevo, Krapets, Lozenets, Nessebar, Obzor, Pomorie, Primorsko, Sinemorets, Sozopol, Ravda, Tuzlata – Balchik, Tsarevo, Chernomorets, Shabla and Shkorpilovtsi. Already at the end of the last century, specialists from the Scientific Institute of Balneology, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation conducted research on the climatic background and established high negative ionization in many of our resorts, including Pamporovo and Chepelare. They proved the favorable possibilities for conducting climate treatment for functional diseases of the nervous system, metabolic syndrome, pulmonary and dermatological pathologies, etc. In certain natural conditions, the air can become a powerful healing factor, filled with invisible, extremely active biological substances, known as phytoncides. Synthesized by plants, they have the ability to destroy pathogenic bacteria and viruses in the air and even suppress the development of some microscopic fungi. And the diversity and richness of mineral waters place Bulgaria among the leading destinations for naturopathy in Europe. There are 102 mineral water deposits on the territory of the country. These waters are naturally protected, as they originate from deep layers, which guarantees their constant physicochemical composition and protects against anthropogenic pollutants. The deposits are actually located throughout the country. Bulgaria is also home to world record holders – the geyser in Sapareva Banya, which erupts water at an impressive 103°C, and the spring in the village of Draginovo, Velingrad municipality (98°C). The book also emphasizes “health for the healthy” – or the so-called spa tourism, while not excluding any aspect of its benefits – wellness, spa, medical spa, various types of massages, aromatherapy, etc. The most respected specialists in this field have a special contribution to the book - Dr. Tatyana Angelova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siika Katsarova, Prof. Kosta Kostov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mariana Angelcheva, Prof. Todorka Kostadinova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Antoaneta Grozeva, Dr. Tanya Belichenova, Dr. Nina Dragoyska, Dr. Chenko Chalakov, Dr. Yordan Gechev, Dr. Liliya Bakalova and others.
