Mak
The novel "Mak" impresses with its sensual intellectuality, with the symbiosis of analytical insights and poetic penetration into the most subtle human experiences, self-irony and high style of expression. With an aristocratic style rarely found in Bulgarian literature. The original imagery of the story is postmodern, on the verge of unreality, hyperbolized, eclectic reality with surreal moments. "Mak" seems to be a love novel about a man who has achieved almost perfection in the love game with the women he wants to possess. And absolute perfection in his love for himself. Mak is a talented young journalist with an impressive appearance, who has locked his ambitions and efficiency in an iron safe to protect himself from all responsibilities, tensions and possibilities for conflicts. Disgusted by the authoritarianism and hypocrisy of the late socialist era, he has built a cozy closed life for himself, let others clean up the garbage of time. Brutal violence puts his dignity before a choice, and from that moment on, the upward movement in his life comes at an increasingly cruel price.
