Real Faces
Liliya Ilieva is a Bulgarian author whose poetry and prose impress with emotional depth, a clearly recognizable style, and a focus on the themes of memory, loss, love, and human vulnerability — those inner states that rarely find a voice. Her poems and stories have been published in publications such as “Ah, Maria”, “Steps”, “Satira”, “Savremennik”, “Almanach”, the online magazine “Y”, as well as in the international collection “(Re)discovering Bulgaria”, published in Hungary. Her literary path developed through participation in creative workshops such as “Zaeshka dupka” and “Znanie”, where she worked with contemporary Bulgarian writers and poets, including Aksiniya Mihaylova, Petar Chuhov, Rene Karabash, Vladimir Zarev, Zdravka Evtimova, Margarita Petkova, Kalin Terziyski, and Ivan Landzhev. In 2022, her debut poetry collection “Delete. WITHOUT GOODBYE” (CC “Trud”) was published with editor Rene Karabash and a foreword by Zdravka Evtimova, welcomed as a bright and emotionally strong debut. In 2024, her second poetry collection appeared — “I CAN’T APOLOGIZE”, edited by Kamelia Kondova. Although her professional path is in the field of finance, literature is her true space — a place to express the deepest experiences and inner searches. In the collection of short stories “True Faces”, Liliya Ilieva gets even closer to human nature, taking off the masks behind which we all sometimes hide. This is a book about truth, vulnerability and the courage to be ourselves.
